February ViMBSAR Match
*No results available, but I have a couple of photos with commets.

FAL. The bipod sure came in handy and you "earn" extra points for shooting with a bayonet attached.

Our own Godfather with his Hakim. Now most of you are asking, WTF is that thing??? Well it's an Egyptian version of the Swedish Ljungman rifle in 7.92x57 mm, (8 mm) rather than the original 6.5x55 mm. The Ljungman is one of those rifles that is far more significant for the technology it introduced than for its use in warfare, which was pretty much confined to the Sinai War of 1956. Did I get that right Tony?

Here's Mr. Sam Salvo. Some of you may know him from the monthly subgun matches he shoots. He did very well with his .308 Springfield M1A.

May ViMSAR match results

We had sixteen shooters for the May match. Several of our regulars were out of town this weekend, at a dynamite match.
It was a nice sunny day with a bit of a breeze and Mud Duck designed fast stages so we could finish before it got too hot.
A twist on the grenade toss this month was to try and roll it into a pipe. We also got a chance to try our luck at clay bird shooting on one stage.

June ViMSAR match results

We had 27 shooters for the match. The weather was perfect, with just a slight breeze.
Mud Duck included a shotgun stage, 10 rounds at clay birds, and the pistol stage was five rounds at the Texas Star target. Double points for shooting the pistol one handed. Steve Franks shot that stage clean for 10 points. Good shooting, Steve.
The timed stage included two bonus shots at balloons. Not easy targets, even though the wind was light.
The hit of the day was firing Joe Brennan's SKS with grenade launcher. We were firing soda cans at an 'ammo dump'. Only one confirmed hit, as far as I know.
One stage shot off hand and two with multiple distance targets completed this challenging match.

July ViMSAR results

"Hello, mother. Can you hear me?"
Stick a field telephone on a stage and hilarity ensues. Maybe.
Mud Duck had us wire up the phone, throw a knife and pitch a grenade. And that was even before we got to fire a shot.
We had 22 hardy souls show up for an 8.00am start. Four reasonably quick stages meant that we were off the range before it got too hot.
With bonuses on every stage, we ended up with some pretty high scores

A small but hearty group showed up this morning to see what Mud Duck had in store for them. Beautiful weather with a slight breeze. Four fast stages including shotgun at ten clay birds, with bonuses for hitting two with one shot. An off hand stage, a bit of bayonet and grenade throwing, some multiple distance targets and that was the match.
Congratulations to Jim Willey, for his first !st. Place.

September ViMSAR Results

Twenty competitors showed up to brave a chilly, yes CHILLY, wind for this months ViMSAR event. Mud Duck was unable to run the match as he was taking the NRA Hunter Safety course, so Jim Coe stepped in to set steel for the us. Thanks, Jim.
I wrote up four stages using all the basic shooting positions, and added the hand grenade toss for good measure.
The off hand stage separated the men from the boys, and the brain teaser stage showed who was awake during the walk thru.
Steve Franks won the match, ahead of the rest of the pack by eight hits. Good shooting, Steve.

December ViMSAR Results

Just a bit chilly, not really too bad considering it's December. The overcast sky actually helped us see the targets. No shadows or changing light angles.
Mud Duck kept it simple this month, apart from the bowling pins. Three pins to hit, one shot to do it. A couple of shooters managed to get two down, and several of us got none. Nobody got all three.
We finished off with a man on man pistol shoot, using the Texas Star targets.
Total possible score of 89.
