January ViMBAR Results

We had a good turnout for a cold morning. Eighteen shooters turned up to be greeted by fifty degree temperatures near the end. Winds were light, so not a problem.
After some group complaints I changed a 300yd. standing position to prone. I will make you pay next month.
With four stages we had a possible high score of 48, and a few were able to roll the grenade into a 6" pipe for a three point bonus.
Thanks to everyone for their help gathering up the targets.

February ViMBAR Results

What a beautiful day for shooting. Cool, but not cold early on, and a very light wind by mid morning.
Jim set us up four stages, three with multiple distance targets.
The standard tie breaker stage had a twist to it. Along with the grenade toss, you had to figure out which was the target and which was the shadow !
From standing position, a 30 second timed stage at 100 and 200 yds. Not many of us made it past the first stripper clip.
Shooting prone at 300 and 400 yds. on stage 3, and then out to Range 9 for our last stage and 300, 400 and 500 yd. targets.
Possible high score around 48 (if you had an Enfield)

March ViMBAR Results

A great shooting day, warm with only light winds. Jim Coe was on vacation so Mud Duck and Dustin set the stages. The tie breaker stage had balloon targets along with the obligatory grenade and bayonet toss, but all done from prone position on a cot ! Three stages with multiple distance targets, one shot prone, one sitting and one from atop a 'gun tower'. The last stage was shotgun/pistol, using the Texas Star target.
Possible high score of 61.

April ViMBAR Results

Bill Harty ran the match and set up five stages for us. A simplified tie breaker stage with us blowing up a hay bale with a hand grenade before shooting off hand.
On another stage, the points per hit were determined by shooting position, shooters choice. One point for prone, two for sitting/kneeling or three points for standing.
All other stages had multiple distance targets, one with small bonus targets and another with a shoot 'til you hit, shoot 'til you miss scenario.
The Master Class was determined by results of past matches.
Possible high score of 85.

May ViMBAR Results

Jim set up four good stages this month. We had to try and knock down bowling pins on the tie breaker stage, along with the grenade toss. Stage Two had us setting our rifle sights at the lowest setting, and then trying to engage targets at 100 and 400yds. Not easy.
Two more stages with multiple distance targets, one including pistol, rounded out the match.
Possible high score of around 52.

June ViMBAR Results

A little warm, but Jim put on a fast match and we beat most of the heat. The tie breaker stage was shot prone, unsupported, after trying to roll the grenade into a pipe. Not easy, believe me! Stage 2 and 3 had multiple distance targets, one was shot sitting, the other prone. Stage 4 was shot using the log as support, and included six pistol rounds at two targets.
Steve Franks won the second leg of the 2008 Enfield Award. That's two in a row, Steve !!

July ViMBAR Results

Humid and overcast, but we had a good turnout.
Jim gave us four stages, with the tiebreaker being stage shot through a window after you'd tried to throw the grenade into a narrow rifle slit. Only two people managed that. Good pitching, Don Wright and Jon Zimmer.
The other three stages were all multiple distance, with one shot kneeling behind a barricade, one sitting and one prone. Six pistol rounds on two targets completed the match.

October ViMBAR Results

A slightly chilly start to the day. And then it warmed up a bit. And then it got colder. And then it started to snow a little. Snow !!?? And then it warmed up a bit.
Stage One was the classic tie breaker, grenade toss and then ten rounds shot off hand. Stage Two was six pistol rounds and then ten rounds at two targets at different distances, shot from prone position. On Stage Three, Jim had us sitting, engaging 400, 300 and 200yd. targets, shoot 'til you hit and then move to the next one. The last stage was timed, 12 seconds for three close shots, from standing supported.
We also held the third stage of the 2008 Enfield Award, this time for the No.5, Jungle Carbine. The scores in the Enfield match are not so much a reflection on the expertise of the participants, but more a sad commentary on the poor quality of surplus .303 ammunition.
Possible high score of 42.

November ViMBAR Results

Jim Coe was out of town, so Mud Duck set up the match. Four stages, all with ten rifle rounds, starting with the obligatory tie breaker. Grenade toss through the weapons slit and then five pistol rounds at the Texas Star target. Bonus points for shooting the pistol one handed or weak handed. Then alternating rifle between two 200yd. targets.
Stage Two was a 200yd. body/head shot scenario, shot kneeling behind a barricade. Bonus points for head shots.
Stage Three had us sweeping targets at 100, 200, 300 and 400 yds. from prone position.
Stage Four was shot standing, supported, behind a barricade. A must hit 100yd. target, and then a Nevada Sweep on three swingers at 200yds. for the remainder of your ammo.
Possible high score of 82.
We also held the first Godfather's Axis Powers side match. Any Axis rifle was acceptable. We had a reduced number of rounds for this event, due to the $$$ of some of the ammo.
Possible high score of 62.
