April ViMBAR Results
Cloudy with slight breezes means clear target silhouettes and no mirage resulting in high scores.
A small mishap on range five (Ask Mud Duck) forced a set up on range seven. I think it worked better. The varied terrain with the vegetation gave the match a more realistic look. Maybe we can use this a limited walk around.
There were five stages this month with a total of Fifty rounds of rifle and six rounds of pistol. The April Vmbar incorporated the second Axis powers match which shot the full course of fire allowing the single rifle shooters the opportunity to compete in both the standard match and the Axis match.
Stage 1 was the standard sitting or kneeling position with two targets, one at 200 yards and the other at 300 yards. Shoot till you hit, shoot till you miss.
Stage 2 was prone supported at targets 200, 300 and 400 yards. Shot sequence was 4-3-3 for a total of 10.
Stage 3 was shooters choice, standing or kneeling unsupported at a target 225 yards away. Kneeling = 1 point, standing = 2 points. I think all shooters chose standing. Stage 4 was pistol and rifle from concealment, supported sitting or kneeling. Six shots at a torso sized target 35 yards with the pistol. The rifle stage was timed with 80 seconds for 10 shots at 300 yards.
The tie breaker stage had a grenade toss for 1 point. A twist allowed a missed grenade to be retrieved and a second try with more elapsed time. The shooter then shot from cover alternating between two targets at 200 yards.
Small rule changes: Grenade = 1 point, Bayonet = 1 point.

June ViMBAR Results
The day started warm and sunny, but the light wind increased as the morning progressed. Bill Harty put together five stages for us, staring with:
Stage One, the tie breaker. For a change, we had the choice of pitching either a hand grenade or a horseshoe ! Close didn't count for either, in this case. And then eleven shots alternating two 200yd. targets, shot from prone unsupported.
On Stage Two, we had a wall to use for support from standing position, engaging two targets at 230 and 270 yds. Alternating, eleven rounds.
Stage Three was shot prone supported, ten rounds at three targets at 200, 300 and 400yds. Engage until hit, then move to the next. If you miss, you go back one target.
We used pistol and rifle on Stage Four. Six pistol rounds at a nice big target, but it was about 40yds. out. Then five rifle rounds at a 200yd. target, shot standing unsupported.
On Stage Five, we shot from the bench, but could only use elbow support. Ten rounds at one 200yd. target.
We had our first annual D-Day Anniversary side match. Allied rifles pitted against European Axis rifles. It was pretty close in numbers, with thirteen Allied and fourteen Axis competitors, but the Allies won the day with an average score of 29 against the Axis 26.
We also had the second leg of the 2009 Enfield Award, this time for the No. 4 Enfield.
Possible high score of 60.

Stage One, our tie breaker, started with the grenade toss and then ten rounds at two 200yd. targets. Shot offhand.
Stage Two was shot from sitting position, ten rounds at a 200yd. target.
On Stage Three we had to sweep three targets from prone position. 200, 300 and 400yds, ten rounds.
Stage Four started with six pistol rounds on the dueling tree target, and then from a supported sitting position we had a must hit target at 200yds. and all remaining rounds at a 300yd. target. As many rounds as possible in one minute.
Possible high score around 53.

May ViMBAR Results
A great day, sunny with light winds. Jim set up five stages starting with:
Stage One, the tie breaker. After pitching a grenade at a rifle slit, we had two targets, one large and one small, to engage at 200yds. Ten rounds from kneeling supported.
Stage Two was a variation on the 'shoot 'til you hit, shoot 'til you miss' scenario, with thee targets at 400, 300 and 200 yds. Sitting unsupported, ten rounds.
On Stage Three, we shot prone, ten rounds at 300 and 400 yd. targets.
We used a log to shoot sitting supported on Stage Four, ten rounds at a very skinny 300yd. target.
On Stage Five, six pistol rounds at the dueling tree, and then ten rifle rounds on one target from standing position at about 200yds.
Possible high score of 63.
