A perfect day for our first match on winter hours. Warm with a very light breeze. We couldn't use Range Five, so Bill and Jim set up five stages on Range Six, starting with:
Our tie breaker, Stage One. We started with the grenade pitch and then ten rounds at a single 200yd. target. Shot from prone supported position.
There were three targets on Stage Two, at 400, 300 and 200yds. From prone supported position, we had to engage until hit and then move to the next closest. Ten rounds.
Stage Three was ten rounds shot from kneeling or sitting position at the famous 'Gary' target. This month set at 300yds.
There was a single 200yd. target on Stage Four, engaged from standing unsupported position with ten rounds.
We started with pistol on Stage Five. Six rounds at a good sized target at 40yds. Then five rifle rounds from sitting supported position at a 250yd. head/body target. Bonus points for head shots.
Possible high score of 59.

FYI, the link from the DSRPC site showed September's match as starting at 8, which is why I was an hour early. I'm glad I was though!

Question. I see Englishandy has two different scores (by the time) with two different rifles. So if I have two eligible rifles and want to shoot both, do we just pay two entry fees? Does the second rifle have to be eligible for the Axis side match?

I'm still deciding whether to shoot my US Enfield M1917 again or shoot the Swedish Mauser now that I have time to load some ammo for it.

Hi Mac,
The side matches are for specific types of rifles, so the Axis Powers match was limited to rifles used by those countries. You could also have your Axis score counted for the main match, or use a second ViMBAR legal rifle. For example, Tony Dee shot one rifle, a K-98 Mauser. So it's eligible for the Axis match and the main match. I shot two rifles, an Yugo Mauser for the Axis match and a Nagant for the main match.
We do side matches every couple of months or so. Your P-1917 will be eligible for the next one, as it will be the final stage of the 2010 Enfield Award. That match will be for P-1914's but we allow P-17's even though they're in the wrong caliber :)
And there is no extra charge for a second rifle, if it's for a legit side match.
Now we've just got to find you a proper stock for that P-17 ....

Mac; We're glad to have had you join us on Saturday and I enjoyed shooting with you. I hope you didn't find our squad too obnoxious, but we did enjoy a few laughs. (mostly in regards to my outstanding shooting) :lolgreen:

Match announcements, updates, photos, and results can be found on this forum a couple of days in advance of the next match or via e-mail if you provided one on the sign in sheet. We do start at 8:00 AM in the summer but had just switched to our winter hours this month.

We hope you enjoyed yourself and look forward to seeing you again.

Tom

Is that going to be the match this weekend, Oct. 9th, or a later one? I'll be bringing the Swede out this weekend, but will load some more ammo for the Enfield if need be. Thanks!

No, that won't be this month's match. Probably December.
